Challenge:
Develop a biometric recognition system to streamline and facilitate check-in, pre-boarding and boarding processes of Viva Aerobús passengers at airports where the airline operates, the system must be sturdy, scalable and with precision greater than 99%, in addition, with the highest security and privacy standards for customer data protection.
Proposal:
Development a sturdy and efficient face recognition system to streamline check-in, pre-boarding and passenger boarding processes at airports. In order to use this service, passengers have to enroll on the VivaAerobus website, where they are asked to take different photos of their faces at various angles, as well as a photo of their official ID. The system was required to be capable of validating the identity of the passenger using any official identification: IFE, INE, Passport or driver’s license. As well as validate with life tests and data extraction through OCR.
Results:
Since the deployment of the Smile&Fly system, thousands of passengers have been benefited from easy and fast documentation without showing identification on site, contact-free boarding showing only the face, “Flying is as easy as smiling with Smile&Fly!”
